CA -3 Colourful, colonial & charming

As we come into land in Managua, I can't help but noticing miles and miles of flat corrugated roofs that look like shanty towns.  When we get on the transfer bus and drive past these towns it seems that first impressions are correct.  I'm amazed at how different Nicaragua feels, it's a long time since I've been anywhere quite so different.

It's an hour transfer to Granada, and as we wind through the streets to the hotel we are absolutely charmed by how pretty and colourful all the houses are.

The hotel is a delight too and we have a lovely lazy afternoon meandering around the streets and enjoying doing nothing in particular

We were hoping to meet up with the rest of our group today, but they won't be getting to the hotel until about midnight, after setting off very early today from Heathrow.  I realise that I am now very glad that we didn't fly via the US in the end, we have had a lovely day!
